Description:

Introduced in South Carolina from Turkey around 1830. William Johnson, for whom the plant is named, established Johnson Grass in Alabama in the 1840s as a forage species, and it spread rapidly. Most invasive in the Southeast U.S. But pretty with a setting sun behind it ...

Habitat:

Grows pretty much everywhere ... sometimes as tall as 6-8 feet.
