Welcome to Project Noah, amykbstead! Nice first spotting. :) This type of caterpillar has urticating hairs that “...can puncture the skin causing hives and skin rashes on individuals who are highly sensitive to the irritation.” Be careful if handling these little guys; I’d advise not doing so at all! https://bygl.osu.edu/node/1324
