Notes:
These photos were submitted based on the observed behavior. A section of dirt was disturbed revealing a cluster of what looked like eggs. The ants quickly came out of tunnels and moved them as can be seen in the sequence of photos. I had never seen this before so it was very exciting for me. I did not realize the ants would place the eggs so close to the surface. Perhaps they had already been in the process of moving them?
