Field Notes

Description:

Family: Corduliidae (emeralds) Length: 52-62 mm. Females tend to be larger, but their coloration and body form are similar. Large and dark with iridescent green and large yellow spots on thorax. Brilliant green eyes. Slender abdomen and base is segmented. Transparent wings with black veins and one black dash at top of each wing.

Habitat:

Found hanging on a chair by a man-made pond in my yard near woodlands.
