Field Notes

Description:

Huge bird with a 9.5 foot wingspan. The Condor can be told from the Turkey Vulture by the white on the forward part of the underside of the wings (TV has white along the trailing edge) and the large plank-like perfectly flat wings. From a distance Condors can appear to be small aircraft.

We saw 4 Condors at Grand Canyon NP; #80,# L4, #97 and one whose tag we could not read. Totally awesome birds.

I know vultures as raptors is a debatable subject, but I love them and they're enough like raptors that I definitely include them in the mission. Thanks! ;-)
Seeing a California Condor in the wild ... wonderful.
Thanks, our first real sighting was #80 flying directly toward and over us about 30' above our heads. Awesome birds. I have added it to the mission. I didn't add it initially because I wasn't sure you included the vultures in it.
What a sight to see! Great capture! I'd love you to add this to the mission Raptors of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8627557
