Field Notes

Description:

Spotted in Punta Ballena, Maldonado, Uruguay. I think this is a Brown-hooded Gull (Chroicocephalus maculipennis) in one of its plumages, but I am doubting.

Thanks PedroNicolau. Why do you think it's Larus ridibundus? That bird is not normally seen in Uruguay. I suspect it's the Brown-hooded Gull, which looks very similar to the Black-hooded Gull. However, the Brown-hooded Gull is native to Uruguay.
