Field Notes

Description:

I spotted this lovely little moth sitting still on the ground for several minutes. After looking at the pictures, I discovered it was excreting that yellow substance, which quickly soaked into the ground. (The last three pictures are in sequence of it happening.) Then it quickly flew away.

I'm thinking some kind of oakworm moth. It was under an oak tree, fittingly.
