Description:
White-winged doves have an overall brown color and a small black marking on their cheeks. They can be distinguished by the white on the edges of their wings.
Habitat:
White0winged doves commonly live in a desert habitat in the Southwest as well as in Texas and coastal Southeast cities/suburbs. They are often found in backyards, especially those equipped with birdbaths and feeders. Individual doves may wander across the continent after the end of breeding season.
Notes:
White-winged doves eat waste grain and seeds on the ground, and can also teat berries in trees. Often, they gather in large flocks for trips and migration. They make long, hooting noises commonly heard in the southern U.S.
