Field Notes

Notes:

The hazards of being a nature nerd... This is a nightmare came true. When I was moving aside some branches of a shrub, trying to get a better view of a bug, I felt something sliding in my arm. I thought it was a mosquito, and was going to give it a big slap, when I noticed what it really was: a fully armed noctuid caterpillar! The funny side (!) of the story is that it was walking on my arm hairs, so luckily its stings never touched my skin. And I still managed to get a couple pics of it, before I blew it away...

Could that also be a Nymphalidae caterpillar, Sergio?
