Field Notes

Description:

The female bird is blackish-brown, and has a sharply pointed bill. The call is different in that the females goes on longer and makes a chit chit chit.

Habitat:

Red-winged blackbirds are usually found in wetlands, and inhabits freshwater marshes.

Notes:

I first heard the call of this bird on the field trip that ms.kilmer pointed out, and caught a female flying by.
