Garden. Well-drained to dry, neutral to alkaline soil in sun. Native to Southern Europe. Rocky mountain slopes.
Notes:
It has a sharper, spicier, more pungent taste than summer savory. It is added to stuffings, marinades and pickles.
It has antiseptic, aromatic, carminative, and digestive benefits-can treat gastro-enteritis, cystitis, nausea, diarrhoea, bronchial congestion, sore throat and menstrual disorders. Can be used as an expectorant and in the treatment of stings when rubbed onto bee or wasp stings. It was also believed to inhibit sexual desire.
