Field Notes

Description:

Pale mushroom with a slightly slimy cap and brown scabers on the stem. It has a spongy, porous underside like boletes and Suillus mushrooms rather than the typical gilled underside of other mushrooms

Habitat:

Mixed forest (conifiers & hardwoods) overlooking the ocean.

Notes:

I originally thought this was Suillus sp., but I learned that Leccinum have scabers on the stalks vs the glandular dots of Suillus sp. Either way, it's good to learn something new!
