Field Notes

Description:

Tiny black bear cub smelling wildflowers.

Habitat:

Historically, black bears occupied the majority of North America's forested regions. Today, they are primarily limited to sparsely settled, forested areas.

Notes:

It's the first bear I saw into the Wild! Motivating me to go to encounter bigger ones and then grizzlis.
I haven't faced a grizzli yet, but black and brown bears.
It's always nice (but also dangerous I confess), to encounter wild animals, and it gives a lot of emotion when I photograph them.
It's different from zoos etc, but risks are differents too...
I hope that you like this one!
Take care

I had not seen him until now. Really cute!
Hehe, I was just thinking about to write that I was keeping an eye on the surroundings... for the mum... being in alert on every single branch crack... Thank you Suzanne and Debbie for your nice comments! Yes I really prefer to see animals into the Wild, but sometime it's a long hike for 'nothing' :/ Funny recent story, I hiked for 40km in one day in the Rockies, hoping to photograph grizzli bears. I saw none... the only bears I saw, was a big black bear mom and her almost as big 'cub', along the road when I was driving! Note: it was my longuest hike ever. I'm not quite sure that I can do it many days in a row! :)
Bears smell flowers. Who knew? Verra-verra nice spotting, Frederic ... where was mom?
Brilliant spotting Frederic! You;re definitely right about wild animals being much nicer to see in the wild :-)
