Field Notes

Description:

Note the multiple ostioles, or openings.

Habitat:

In leaf litter under a tree in a family friend's back yard. She and my aunt try to keep very dense, more natural gardens. They were all throughout her yard under several different trees and shrubs.

Notes:

Pepper pots are a very distinct and rare earth star, I was so delighted to find so many. It's great what conscious efforts of individuals can do for species conservation. By keeping her yard more natural and less landscaped, she was able to home dozen of threatened M. coliformes.
