Field Notes

Description:

This is a small lizard with a 45 mm body and a very long slender reddish tail that is 90 mm long.The body is dark olive brown to black and has a row of white spots along each side from head to base of tail. There are several gray stripes that also run the length of the dorsum from the back of the head to the tail

Habitat:

This one was found in leaf litter at the foot of a tree in secondary forest in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador (700 masl).

Notes:

Very delicate looking lizard. I couldn't believe the tail the first time I saw one.
