Description:

A small owl, that occurs throughout the Americas. They come in 4 different morphs or colours including reddish brown, dark brown, orange red and light brown. Trinidad, as well as other localities, have endemic subspecies, shown here with a Ruddy Brown Dove as it's prize.

Habitat:

This species is crepuscular, but often hunts by day. It hunts a variety of birds, lizards, mammals, and insects. The flight is low to the ground and rapid with long swoops.
