Field Notes

Description:

Mourning Dove has a slender tail, a head smaller than its body, and a small bill. They have a light brown to a tan color, with black spots on the wings and black-bordered white tips to the tail feathers.

Habitat:

Mourning Doves can be found almost everywhere; in bare ground, backyard when they are searching for food or on telephone wires.

Notes:

Mourning Doves' flight are fast and bullet straight with their powerful wing beats, sometimes it makes sudden ascents, descents, and dodges with their tails stretching behind them. They make a soft, drawn-out calls sound like laments.
