Description:
Or, a Common or Button mushroom when cultivated (or white)... The carpophore is about 10 cm tall, sporting a brown convex cap, with pink spores. Flesh is firm and white. Stipe is cylindrical with a strong ring, some 5cm tall.
Habitat:
Native to grasslands of Europe, apparently rare in wild; here observed on edges of a meadow in a town park, close to wooded area. Geneva lake valley.
Notes:
Something I did not know (about the name of this one), and have just found on Wikipedia (and interesting): "When immature and white, this mushroom may be known as common mushroom, button mushroom, cultivated mushroom, table mushroom, crimini mushroom and champignon mushroom. When immature and brown, it may be known variously as Swiss brown mushroom, Roman brown mushroom, Italian brown mushroom, cremini/crimini mushroom, or chestnut mushroom."
