Field Notes

Description:

About 2-3 foot long

Habitat:

Garden pond

Notes:

We built a garden pond a few years ago to keep some fish in but also to attract species such as frogs, toads and newts as well as dragon flies and damsel flies. This summer we have enticed another visitor. We have a grass snake living somewhere near the pond probably attracted by the water and the frogs. The pond has plenty of vegetation for the snake to hide in. We have netting over the pond to protect our fish from herons.
