Description:

When I went out, early this morning to feed my dogs (my favourite chore of the day), I saw a dead insect on the terrace floor. I didn't pay much attention, because I don't normally take photos of dead creatures and I knew it would be swept up soon. So, I was not sure if it was a dragonfly or some kind of Neuroptera. When I came back about 30 minutes later, it was being taken apart and carried off by a swarm of ants. This is a frequent sight for those of us who live in tropical countries and I have become so accustomed to it that I have been ignoring it for many years. I did not even know what kind of ant this was. When I pointed it out to my wife, she asked me what the scientific name was and when I admitted that I had no idea, she replied, very earnestly "Well, take a picture, find out what it is called and send it to Project Noah". So, tI did what I was told.

Habitat:

This group of ants was spotted this morning in our front terrace. For reasons which are explained in great detail in Wikipedia, these ants live in colonies under buildings or in cavities within buildings. So our house is their habitat.
