Field Notes

Description:

4 petals per flower; flowers in an ball-like cluster; plant height no more than 2 feet tall; smooth, long leaves arranged opposite one another.

Habitat:

Found at Cummins Falls State Park right next to Blackburn Fork State Scenic River.

Notes:

Imagine rocks fitting together as puzzle pieces. These little flowers were growing all over the place in bunches, through the cracks of the puzzle. Maybe, a species of iris?
