Groundhog looking, out of its burrow
Habitat:
Other marmots, such as the yellow-bellied and hoary marmots, live in rocky and mountainous areas, but the woodchuck is a lowland creature. It is widely distributed in North America and common in the northeastern and central United States as well as Canada. Groundhogs are found as far north as Alaska, with their habitat extending southeast to Georgia.
Notes:
First time I encounter a marmot in Montreal. I was walking with a friend and we were surprised to see one. Taking lots of pictures, we realised that there was so many marmots on Jean Drapeau Island.
