Field Notes

Description:

Grayish-brown salamander that is chunky. Back legs are stronger than the front legs. They lay their eggs under moss. Found statewide in Vermont.

Habitat:

Saturated soil near streams or in wet forested areas.

Notes:

Located in Williamstown Vt in a river bed on the clay under a rock.
