Field Notes

Description:

It grows in mats or cushions, the leaves are silvery in colour, hairy, trifoliate, short-stemmed and close to the ground. Stem bears 1 - 2 blossoms which are up to 3 cm large, pink to red. Petals are almost round, calyx is lance-shaped. It blooms from June to August.

Habitat:

Rocky crevices and gravel on the limestone ground from Southern Alps from Lake Como to the Julian Alps, as well as Karavanke mountains and Kamnik Alps.

Notes:

Found this beauty on the mountain pasture.
