Robber Flies

Robber flies are fierce predators that chase down insects in flight or pounce on them at rest. They often perch on twigs, waiting for a victim to pass by. Few insects avoid their clutches. Spiny-legged flies, usually hairy, with a beard or bristles on face and depression on forehead between eyes.
