Habitat:

I found this cicada in the middle of the road, and I'm assuming it died of natural causes but I have no idea. Oak forested area near a pond.

Fantastic! If you look at the mesopronotum, which is the darkest part of the thorax, you can see two markings which meet at the point closest to the head. Upside down, each of these markings look like the Hebrew letter known as Resh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resh#Resh_in_Hebrew
