Field Notes

Description:

8 to 10 inches high water bird. Predominantly white in color with a black cap or crown. Very sharp pointed black beak about 3 to 4 inches in length. Light gray covers on wings.

Habitat:

At evening this pair of birds seemed to be hunting together. They were living on the intra-coastal inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. Both had set themselves up above fishermen with the opportunity for free handouts from the men and women fishing.
