A moss is a plant, an ancient kind of simple plant that doesn't have roots. You might be thinking of lichens, which are fungi that contain algae cells to absorb light for energy like plants. They often appear very similar to mosses and frequently grow on rocks and trees right along side mosses. But this is definitely a moss, not a lichen. Here is a link if you're interested in learning more about them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moss https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichen Here is a simpler version if you don't like the technical jargon: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moss https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichen Always glad to help out :)
Mosses are flowerless plants
Definitely looks like a moss. The little string like plants are probably sporophytes, the moss's spore producing reproductive organs.
