Field Notes

Description:

A neighborhood cat killed the mother but we didn't know it had any babies. When we came home some hours later, it was raining. The cat that killed the mother had found the baby and was laying next to it to keep it warm and alive. When we got home, it kept meowing to attract our attention until we came over to it.

Habitat:

Suburban yard near pine and oak forest.

Notes:

We gave this baby to a friend who often takes care of injured or baby squirrels and releases them when they are able to live on their own. It made a full recovery.

Thank you everyone!
I had a friend who accidentally hit a mother rabbit with her car. That night her dog came in carrying three baby rabbits they were taken to a wildlife rescue center.
