Field Notes

Description:

This spider's body was approximately 5cm long, 12cm including legs.

Habitat:

Found in a muddy area after the rains in the Sinai desert.

Its a "Camel Spider" native of Sinai Desert a kind of "Solifugae" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solifugae
Cool, thanks for the update. So we have the huntsman near us!!
Looks exactly like the one in the Wildlife of South Sinai book, which also has this to say: "...flat body and long legs that are not perpendicular to its body like other spiders, but angled, which leads to a sideways motion much like a crab. The lightning speed with which this spider moves has been noted by many Bedouins, prompting them to give a special name to this species: beraira." Thanks for uploading your spotting! :-)
