Nice view against the sky. Good job!
your welcome chief, as always! and thanks again jemma! best wishes! ;)
Wow thanks Jemma and LandmarkExpert for that wonderful observation about Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
Land MArk, I have not studied both that carefully to make any comments. But i will soon do some research and let you know in a day or two.
so it looks like eastern swallowtails have more blue on the tails, plus darker yellow and longer black stripes than western, correct?
You are welcome Land MArk. I liked your observation about the 3 species. No book is going to give that kind of stuff.
thank you for the info, jemma! and that's a nice western tiger, how do you tell the difference between eastern and western?
and this one like yours likes purple flowers too. It was flying around so gracefully!! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/24653072

might seem a little funny ,but this butterfly decided to accompany me for 30 minutes. As though it was acknowledging my presence and friendship. I tis a resident and flies around the neighborhood. Always busy. that day though it voluntarily sat on the camphor tree. They are alert and aware of their surroundings!!
that is my experience as well jemma. the other day i was photographing butterflies and moths in our neighbors butterfly bush, and there was a tiger swallowtail and an eastern black swallowtail. the eastern black was quite skittish, and very fast, so it flew away whenever i got the slightest bit near it. the tiger, on the other hand, was very calm, and let me get extremely close.
My experience with this butterfly is that it is a very friendly butterfly.
thanks chief and kranti for your favorites and comments. yes, that is a possibility thanks kranti.
