Species ID Suggestions

Yeah, Ava T-B I can. If you'd seen this when I first posted it, you would have seen that I identified it as an Eastern Yellow Jacket. At that point, I was hoping that someone might be able to verify or correct me on that ID, and thought that one who is in a hive blah, blah group might be able to help with that ID. I don't just assign my photos to random missions. I had been waiting to have the Hoverfly ID verified or corrected by the hive.... mission. Perhaps you can please point me in the right direction for a group that can actually ID bees and such that build those hives?
Nice fly, but as there is no Nest, hive, bower, etc in this spotting, can you plese remove it from that mission? Thanks.
Nice picture - but this is a wasp-mimicking hover fly in the family Syrphidae. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoverfly One of the "give-aways" is that flies only have one pair of wings, as opposed to other insects which have two pairs.
Nice spotting; I can confirm that they will sting repeatedly as this happened to me recently when I inadvertently disturbed a nest.
