Field Notes

Description:

There is one female and two males in this photo. One of the males has carefully crawled onto the female's abdomen. A second male waits and there was a third male out of the picture. Possible mating.

Habitat:

In my urban yard. The web is extensive and covers several feet. It has been in place for about a month and every week is damaged slightly (we are consciously minimizing damage) when we move the trash can to the curb. She reconnects to the can when it is returned the next day.
