Field Notes

Description:

Similar to Loepa Katinka, but schintlmeisteri is found only in South India. The eye spots are used to scare off predators. Wingspan is only about 5 inches. This specimen is a male.

Habitat:

Found at the view point at Jog falls, attracted to the lights nearby. It was continuously raining in the night. Seen at 6:45 am.

Notes:

One of the more scarce Moths in South india.
