Description:
This gecko is nocturnal and insectivorous, It is 5.5 inches in length, has sticky toe pads, large, lidless eyes with elliptical pupils, and yellow- or tan-colored skin with black spots. Their bellies or undersides are somewhat translucent and you can often see the opaque image of their recent meal.
Habitat:
The are frequently found on the outside of the house, near lights that attract the gecko's next meal. Hence our backyard habitat which attracts insects is an ideal place for the gecko. They are welcome inside of our house because they track down nocturnal insects, especially the fast moving cockroaches.
Notes:
Although, the gecko is considered an invasive creature, I consider it a welcome immigrant. It has had no recorded bad effect on the local environment, they are cute and I can avoid the use of household insecticides.
