Field Notes

Description:

Green with brown and black spots. Brown and yellow eyes. Light yellow throughout the body.

It also comes in practically reverse colors with the base being brown—the same eyes.

Habitat:

Swampy pond that gets cut off from the lake at this time of year.

Notes:

These little frogs are everywhere here. I had the pleasure to watch this one cleaning and relaxing.

From the research I've come across they are in decline due to habitat destruction and invasive species eating them. For a while, they were over-hunted for frog legs when people over-hunted the Bullfrogs.
