Field Notes

Description:

The Wild Blueberry is a treat that many do not get and you really have to work 'berry' hard to get. You first have to find them and then it takes an immense amount of work to pick anything more than a handful. The other contender in this equation is the bears and birds. They are a staple for animals in the summer and bears especially love to eat and roll around in them, so picker beware.

Habitat:

Blueberries are frequently found on burned-over areas from recent wildfires, areas that have been logged or sites with ledge rock or rock outcrops. Blueberries can also be found growing along the edge of bogs.
