Description:

Mourning doves are a brown to tan color overall and have black spots on the wings, which are usually a darker shade than their body. They have a very plump body and long tail, as well as a dark mark on their cheek.

Habitat:

Mourning doves are found nearly anywhere except in deep woods. They can be found on patches of bare ground or fields, or sitting upon overhead perches like telephone wires or other high places.

Notes:

Mourning doves tend to fly quickly and may suddenly ascend, descend, or dodge using their powerful wings.
