Description:

A stocky, very brightly patterned shorebird.

Habitat:

Breeds on rocky arctic coasts and tundra. On migration and in winter, mostly along rocky shores, but also sand beaches and mudflats.

Notes:

This one was mixed in with other shore birds on the way to the Arctic.
