Field Notes

Description:

Has an appearance very similar to a cormorant, but the head and neck look more like a heron's. They also look different in flight, soaring more like a raptor. This one flew over us, it looked very prehistoric. They have a whitish pattern on the wings. Also known as a snakebird and the water turkey.

Habitat:

This one landed in some kind of ditch near a very swampy forest in Orlando, FL.

Notes:

It was quite far away and shy, as a result I couldn't get any decent photos.
