Field Notes

Description:

Silvery abdomen with black stripes and a slightly greenish tint. The head is reddish. On the abdomen there are two circular marks that look like eyes.

Habitat:

Village Kukrahati near Haldia town in West Bengal, India. Side wall of an old building...residential and still occupied. The area is on the banks (where the floodplain ends) and there are lots of old trees, other vegetation and a pond nearby. The second shot gives perspective...I was standing on my toes while shooting.

Notes:

Can someone help me to ID this to species level please.

Thank you so much Neil for all the trouble you took...decorata is spot on...I had also posted on a Spider forum and they also leaned towards decorata as species epithet.
Other common name include "Decorative Leucauge Spider" or simply "Long-jawed Spider". http://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=2532 It's the right species and the link has awesome photos, but I was hoping to get you an informative local reference.
