Description:
Mature larva have white with black spots numerous black branched spines. If you look closely you can also see an immature larva which to me looks amber in color with black branched spines.
Habitat:
I found these on leaves and tendrils of a host plant...I believe maybe a type of corkystem passion flower.
Notes:
Lucky to have so many zebra longwing butterflies visit my yard this year-I have tried to plant native plants to attract these and other critters and it seems to be paying off as this is the first year I have seen the larva of the zebra longwing! I don't use pesticides either and the birds, butterflies, other insects and bugs seem to love it!
