Green Iguana
Iguana iguana
26.3587, -80.0831
Field Notes
Description:
This iguana is about 6.5 feet long with a very thick body. Spikes and dewlap are orange in color while body is predominantly green. The extended dewlap is shown for courtship purposes or to deter a threat (probably me). Black and green striped tail.
Habitat:
Along an inland fresh water canal in western Boca Raton, FL
Notes:
This large iguana visits my backyard daily. The population of green iguanas of all sizes seems to be growing tremendously this year and there are typically 2 to 4 different iguanas a day visiting. On this day an Egyptian goose decided to run off this and another iguana.
This marks my 100th Project Noah post!
