Field Notes

Description:

Rather short in growth with multiple small white leaves around a yellow centre.

Habitat:

Grows almost everywhere, especially in Europe.

Notes:

Can be used as a herb, as a medicine or can be eaten. With fresh or dried flowers you can prepare infusion, which should be drunk three times a day: over a teaspoon of dried flowers pour a cup of hot water and soak for 10 minutes. Tea acts as expectorant and is used in the treatment of coughs and catarrh. Drinking tea also helps with rheumatism, arthritis, and problems with the liver and kidneys. Relieves pain and cramps, stimulates metabolism and has astringent properties.

Daisy is also alterant and cleaner blood, which speeds up the elimination of toxins from the body. It has an invigorating effect.

Leaves are used to treat external wounds and scars. Chewing fresh leaves are healthy for preventing/helping agains afte and other mouth sores. Preparations should be also effective in the treatment of breast cancer. Dekokt from the root can be recommended to treat scurvy and eczema. The plant is also used as a homeopathic medicine.

Daisies can also be made into an anti-insect (repellent).
