Field Notes

Description:

This is a medium-sized butterfly with a wingspan of approximately 2 inches. It is dark brown and has a red stripe diagonally across each forewing; tips of forewings have a pattern of white spots. Butterfly is pollinating ground cover in a non landscaped area.

Habitat:

In a treed area next to a grassy meadow.

Notes:

Identified from photo on website of Dallas butterfly society.
