Description:
White to brown (aged), latticed globe-like cluster originating from an underground “base.” This fungus had a diameter of about 12 inches. Odor is very pleasant and sweet.
Sparassis crispa is a saprobic, (weak) parasitic fungus that grows on the roots of coniferous trees.
Habitat:
Habitat: Found growing at the base of a pine tree in a dense mixed hardwood/pine forest in Northwest Georgia (Gordon County), US.
