Field Notes

Description:

A speckled-eye hoverfly of the family Syrphidae, and the genus Eristalinus.

Habitat:

Observed on a lime tree along the boundary fence of a large village yard. Surrounding habitats included freshwater swampforest, sago swamp, ocean beach and a forested limestone cliff ridge.
