Field Notes

Description:

I thought this was a small piece of loose bark until I poke it and it walked off. About 12mm long. Superb camouflage on rough tree bark. Pretty hard to see on this stone wall too.

Habitat:

Drawn to lights at a local school.

Notes:

Apparently feeds on Manna gum (Eucalyptus viminalis). Synonymous with Acropolitis xuthobapta. Found across south-eastern Australia. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:02…
