Description:

A sphinx moth from genus Macroglossum Scopoli, 1777;
Family Sphingidae, Subfamily Macroglossinae, Tribe Macroglossini, Subtribe Macroglossina.

This sphinx moth has a greenish tint on its body, forewings have a pattern of light and dark brown and grey bands, and a hint of yellow-orange hindwings seen just peeking a little in the pics. The wingspan is about 4 cms.

Habitat:

Backyard, spotted on the ceiling of the garage, attracted by light.

Yes, it is indeed very pretty. I was so glad to see it near our light (pic #4). I tried to make it fly, to observe it better, by disturbing it with a feather duster. It instead held on tight to the feathers. :)
Is a very pretty moth! I like its velvety green which can be appreciated also in the last pics :-)
