Field Notes

Description:

Iridescent green. The pterostigma is pale brown and outlined in black. The thorax has thin yellow antehumerals and broader yellow stripe above a thin black line on each side; the upper edge of the stripe is irregular. Prominent spur-like marking on the side of the thorax.
Mature males defend vertical territories in marginal shrubs and small trees where they find and mate with females in the normal damselfly manner forming the wheel position.

Habitat:

Auderghem, park and woods area near Brussels

I have Collins insect book, this one is 1st damselfly in the book. beautiful jewel! I noticed one of my photo's Latin name is same weeks ago when I checked common name. so I corrected common name to same as this one, but ours isn't emerald.. haha.. strange.. :-)
